About Us

WeShamper exists to grow a trusted community of people sharing the freedom to adventure by offering their campervans and motorhomes for hire.

We are all about sharing what we have to create opportunities for others.

We decided to introduce our own words to make our journey unique and create a lasting identity for this community… they might eventually make it into the dictionary. Shamping, shampers and shampervans… but what do these mean?

  • ‘Shamping’ – shared camping… simple really, and something we know so many people will want to get involved with.
  • Shamper’ – sharing takes two, one to offer and one to receive – whichever you are, you’re a shamper in our eyes and part of the community.
  • ‘Shampervan’ – whether you’re sharing a motorhome or a campervan, we’re calling them all shampervans.

How WeShamper Works: the owners

Would you like to rent out your campervan/motorhome with us? If so, it couldn’t be easier. Here is a step by step guide to help you on your way.
  1. Create an account and select the option to ‘rent your vehicle.’
  2. Use the form to tell us about your camper and upload as many images as you’d like – the more images you have the easier it is for people to visualise themselves enjoying your beloved campervan/motorhome.
  3. Once we’ve received your form, we will send you an email asking for details of your MOT, tax, insurance and breakdown cover. This is important to building trust in the WeShamper community and ensuring featured vehicles are safe, legal and have appropriate cover.
  4. Upon receipt of these (and conditional to everything being in order) we will approve the listing and it will appear on our site – simple.
What’s the process when someone books your vehicle?
  1. An adventurer will select your vehicle and booking dates using the calendar within your vehicle’s profile page.
  2. If the dates are available, the adventurer will be taken to a confirmation page to complete their booking.
  3. Adventurers can pay in full or pay a 10% deposit, with the remainder of the funds to be paid in full 6 weeks prior to the collection day. All payments will be held by WeShamper and paid to vehicle owners one month in arrears, post vehicle collection. For example, if a vehicle is rented the first week of a month, the money for this rental will be paid at the end of the following month.
  4. We will then contact the adventurer and ask them to provide a copy of their driving licence and send them a copy of the rental agreement. This will need to be agreed to prior to the collection of your vehicle.
  5. When it comes to the vehicle collection date you will also need to check the adventurer’s driving licence to ensure the correct person is collecting the vehicle and take the opportunity to check again that their licence is appropriate. You need to complete a ‘vehicle damage and additional agreements’ form that both parties sign before the adventurer sets off.
  6. Upon return of the vehicle a vehicle return form will need to be signed by both parties.
Please be aware, to rent out your vehicle you will need the correct type of insurance, ‘off road’ cover. This can be purchased with a one off annual premium, or as and when you need it for renting out (on a pay as you go system). We are more than happy to point you in the right direction regarding this, however, we are not an insurance company/advisor and you will therefore need to seek proper advice from your insurance provider. WeShamper takes no responsibility for your insurance.

  5. We will contact you asking for proof of a driving licence. We will also email a copy of the rental agreement which will need to be agreed to prior to the collection of the vehicle.
  6. When it comes to the vehicle collection date you will need to show your driving licence to the vehicle owners.
  7. You will also need to fill out a ‘vehicle damage and additional agreements’ form that both parties will need to sign, before the owner hands over the vehicle.
  8. Upon return of the vehicle a ‘vehicle return form’ will need to be signed by both parties.

Please be aware, WeShamper does not provide the insurance for the vehicles advertised on this site. All insurance policies are provided by the owners of the individual vehicles. WeShamper will check the status of vehicle insurance when they are uploaded onto the website and at appropriate intervals. However, please do your own due diligence when collecting the vehicle.
